Welcome to the Wessex Camping Site

The Wessex Camping Committee was established independently many years ago with the vision of providing social interaction for the members, tutors and conductors of the Wessex Band Summer School.

The Wessex Camping Committee run a campsite, for 1 week a year, during the week of the Summer School. We invite and encourage members of the course and their families to camp (or caravan) in an environment specifically orientated towards the needs of the members of the course.

The campsite is situated on the school field at the rear of Sturminster Newton High School.    Map

Showers are open at times as the details shown on the "times page " which are convenient to meet rehearsals, Evening entertainment is organised as detailed in the booklet you will receive when you pay your camping fees on arrival. These are detailed on the "events page"

The campsite will be patroled at most times but the committee accepts no responsiblity for any loss or damage to any person, personal or private property whilst camping at the Sturminster School field. You are encouraged to be vigilant with the security of your instruments and valuables

Note to all campers

After 15 years of being the Camp-site Secretary, I have decided to give up at this year's AGM.  The Committee is therefore seeking someone to replace me.  I have drawn up a list of jobs I currently do which you can see in the attachment.  If you feel you could take over the role, know someone who could, or just want to know more, feel free to e-mail me on  sueblandathome@aol.com .

Thank you.

Sue Bland
